Every home has one. A big empty wall that you just cant seem to find a solution for. An awkward corner, a vaulted ceiling, or a staircase can be REALLY challenging to decorate. Gallery walls are a perfect solution for all of these awkward spaces. With a gallery wall, you become the designer and art curator. A beautiful mash up of all your favorite photos displayed in perfect arrangement for your space. If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed with your new title “Art Curator” check out these awesome gallery walls to inspire you!
1. Classic Black And White
I have a real soft spot for black and white photography. Its timeless and classy and works so well in this modern home. Black and white photos are an excellent choice for a gallery wall because they are cohesive and look great in a grouping. Another thing to keep in mind when designing your own gallery wall is the choice of frame. The art seen here all has the same frame profile and color, but is in a variety of shapes. It keeps the look cohesive while leaving a bit of room for an interesting hanging pattern.
2. A Little Pop Of Color
A little pop of color is exactly what this black and white space needed. It works so well with the white mat and simple black frames. I really like how she stayed consistent with the size of the frames in her gallery wall. It totally modernizes the space!
3. Dramatic Gallery Wall
If your space is lacking drama, a can of paint can fix all your problems! I love the contrast of the black painted wall with the white mat and framed photography. DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA! Time to pull out the painters tape and that ratty college T-shirt, its painting time!
4. Neutral Abstract Gallery Wall
This is a great example of what you can do if you have an awkward high ceiling like this dining room. A mixture of framed art, canvas, and 3 dimensional wall art makes for an unforgettable combo. Keeping the colors neutral is a really good idea because you don’t want the space to look too busy.
5. Staircase Gallery Wall
So many different styles and frames. Everything from black to gold, round to square, line drawing to photograph. But they all fit together seamlessly. I can only imagine how much work it took to pull off this fantastic look. I struggle to hang one picture let alone fitting together 30!
6. Cheap Clip Board Gallery Wall
How fantastic is this idea?! If you’re indecisive (like me) and want to be able to change your art on the fly, then this is the gallery wall for you! Using a fun, and totally inexpensive, clip board you can easily change your art on a whim. Not to mention the cost of having photographs framed, especially for an entire gallery wall, can get expensive real fast. Clip boards are the perfect solution!
7. Picture Ledge Gallery Wall
A picture ledge is another unique way to display your gallery wall. You can get the look without going through the pain of hanging all those photos and trying to make sure they are all level. You also wont end up with hundreds of tiny nail holes in your wall, just a few you’ll use to hang the shelf. I also really love this idea because you can mix your art with other decor items like books, or plants!
8. Awkward Staircase
Ah the awkward staircase wall. I know so many of you can relate to this one. They’ve used a black and white photo collection with modern black frames and over sized white mats. When all the frames are cohesive you can easily continue the art up and around the ceiling just like they did.
9. Easy DIY Gallery Wall
When I came across this awesome DIY by Elizabeth I just couldn’t wait to share it with you all! Her gallery wall totally pops with a beautiful navy backdrop and white IKEA frames she’s totally pulled off a great modern look. She even found a great way to print her over sized images on the cheap!
